breaking news: bathroom hooked up

bathroom%20hookup_01.jpg

It's true. The bathroom is hooked up. Yes. Even the tub. Glamour shots to follow. Other updates to follow too. We've been working, honest.

Exciting! Can't wait to see the progress.

What are you doing to cover the view in?

i've been following up your bath room reno. Great job!
What size claw foot tub do you have and how wide is your bathroom? I'm considering one for my 5' wide bath. Not sure if i should go w/ the 57" or 54".
Keep posting the photos!
Thanks for sharing.

I love your bathroom, I love your loving attention to detail.

A suggestion (and just a suggestion) -- your window -- have you thought about privacy? We have a similar layout in our bathroom and didn't want to lose our big window for privacy, so we put in frosted glass (we actually had a single pane window made out of metal that opens in), but the frosted glass is wonderful. The frosted part does not have to be the whole window, it can go 2/3 of the way up and then sky is still visible. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing.

Rather than frosted glass, I'd use something that keeps heat in - like honeycomb shades - that let in light but provide privacy - I know from experience that thost big brownstone windows can make a bathroom mighty chilly!

hmmm, well we need something, that's for sure. we've put a solid sheet in there for now as a stop-gap measure, but yes, we are thinking about some kind of shade that you could draw to open and close. The frosted glass effect thing I was thinking of doing in a less costly way than actual frosted glass, just by using some kind of film on the glass that's there, like a giant sticker basically. But G doesn't really like the frosted glass effect, so we will see. For now we have a paisley sheet there, clashing nicely with our hard-earned room.

What color is the door to the bathroom? With the bloack trim, is the door black, on both sides?

Love, love, LOVE it so far!

Try a shade that draws up from the bottom so you pull it up 2/3s of the way and still see sky. If this is a south facing room, it would be good to keep the glass completely exposed on sunny days unless you need to bath or use the can. Solar rays can really help warm a bathroom. Ours are southfacing and really benefit from the sun.

I like that idea, since this is a south facing window.
