More Catch Up, Shower Dept.

One of the things that needed a last kick to get over the hump was the shower. As we worked our way towards the bottom, it became slower and slower going, perhaps because the pieces were all unique around the shower curb and each piece had to be custom cut. Or perhaps it's because G really is much faster at tiling than I am as became apparent when she was out of town for a couple of weeks and it was just me and the shower.

Not the biggest fan of dark tiles since they mask dirt and mildew but I do love the detail. Question - do you start from the center and work your way outward of vice versa?

The dark tiles here follow our niche scheme that we are using in the walls - the niche is the "behind" layer, where the white and black hex tiles invert.
In terms of the way we put the tiles down, there was first G's painstaking process of mapping out the bathroom floor in autocad with the hex tiles drawn in, then playing it out with the actual tiles in the room next to the bathroom dry before laying it down (G cut the tiles from their mesh backing to create her patterns), and then finally, when we had the thinset down, transferring the tiles from the their mockup in the room next door to the bathroom floor. We sort of went in a straight line across.
You can see pictures of that process earlier in the blog from when we laid it down.
