Enclosure on the Lower Level

IMG_2014.JPG

On the lower level, we are continuing are enclosure theme, and getting help with framing, insulating and drywalling. In this pic you can see the framing going up for the ceiling. G and I have decided after so long to close our ceiling in the front section of the lower level. We had thought about leaving it open, and we had left the discussion open to our readers too if you guys recall:

Feelings Concerning Ceilings

However, our concerns for sound moving between the floors, and for heat loss, and for dealing with the transition from an open ceiling in the front of the lower level, to the closed ceiling in the back of the lower level where the kitchen is has led us to close the whole thing up. My major concern had been for the boring expanse of flat ceiling plane. But G again with a winner of an idea thought to make the ceiling a little more interesting with our own hand crafted mouldings. (See the sketch on the "Feelings Concerning Ceilings" entry.)

This will no doubt come later, but it's something to look forward too, and will personalize our space.
