A neighbor is going to be constructing a large addition and a homeowner wants to be prepared for the possible impacts to their property. The project has been approved by the Landmarks Commission but does not yet have all of its permits.

Should they hire a lawyer to ensure their property, a ground floor co-op unit, is protected? What other precautions should they take before construction begins? If they feel the planned work is not being truthfully represented should they file a complaint with the Department of Buildings?
