From the Forum: Tracing the Source of a Water Leak
How can the source of a leak be traced to determine if heavy rains and melting snow or leaking plumbing is the cause?
A reader is concerned about water that has started leaking through a second floor ceiling. The problem was first noticed after some heavy rain and has continued now that the winter snow has begun to melt. While the trouble spot on the ceiling is underneath a bathroom, they haven’t noticed an issue when water is running in that room. They suspect the problem might originate with the roof. How can they find the source of the leak?
Please chime in with any advice.
