From the Forum: What Insulation Type Is the Safest Choice?
What should homeowners consider when choosing an insulation material for their homes?
A reader is adding insulation and wants to choose a safe material. The plan calls for insulating the cockloft, the space between the top floor and the attic, as well as between the house’s two units. After looking at cellulose, fiberglass and spray foam options, the homeowner is wondering what would be the safest choice. Is there an issue with spray foam off-gassing? Or potential harm from any fire-retardant chemicals used in making insulation?
Please chime in with any advice.
