From the Forum: Who Is Responsible for Clearing a Stop Work Order Against a Condo?
A condo owner is wondering who is responsible for clearing a violation when a stop work order is issued.
A reader is wondering who is responsible for clearing a DOB violation that has been issued against a relatively new condo building. An owner did work in his or her unit without a permit, resulting in a DOB violation and stop work order that was issued to the original developer of the building, not the unit owner.
The other owners in the building are trying to figure out who is responsible for clearing the violation — is it the unit owner or the condo association? The other owners are concerned that a stop work order will prevent anyone else in the building from filing for permits for other work.
Please chime in with any advice.
