RIP Ol’ Boiler
Against our plumber’s better judgement, we planned to take a gamble this winter and try to get by with a boiler on its last leg. Corrosion and rust were taking their toll – but we were hoping to eke out one more season. That plan (as well as the boiler) was scrapped when we factored in the additional burden our kitchen’s radiant heat floor would put on the system.
So out with the old (in pieces below)

And in with the new

Just as we got our central air up and running in the nick of time for the summer’s heat wave — so it will be for our heat. But will I have a kitchen in which to cook Thanksgiving dinner for 22 people? We’re 2 for 2 now so the odds are in our favor. If not, at least we’ll all be toasty warm munching Cortelyou Road takeout — we could do a lot worse!
